I may be able to answer two questions asked here:
1. I applied the most recent update WITHOUT disconnecting from the WWW. No apparent problems. (*Later, TT even sent a pop-up saying that it was checking for updates...still no apparent problems. It's very annoying, however, that there doesn't seem to be a way to prevent the auto-update process).
2. The question about the "disappearance" of the .tax file was asked on page 6 of last year's thread (link to THAT thread on page 1 of THIS thread). Already in TT2014 there was no more option for a .tax file.
To quote HD (2015-02-10 21:41:05) from page 6 of last year's thread:"I called the CRA and spoke to a rep in their Netfile assistance area. He said that the data transmitted to them is the same as if the .tax file was created and sent as in previous years, but that their system would only receive the data from within the TurboTax program. He told me that the data transmitted to them despite coming from the TurboTax program, dues not go to Intuit, but rather that TurboTax directly routes the data to the CRA. In that basis...I'd say it's safe."
I gambled on HD's confidence, filed through TT, and a year later have still had no problems.
